A Home Farm – Stay at Home Mother Expands Animal Husbandry

A stay at home mother, Ms. Thanusha rears chickens in her spare time. She tends her flock and uses the income from the sale of eggs and chickens to support her children’s educational needs. AACF has always advocated for pluri-activity and business diversity to ensure that our collaborators have the resilience to face any crisis or shock. Taking this advice to heart, with the support of AACF, Ms. Thanusha has ventured in to rearing goats in addition to chickens. She has been able to diversify her production and now sells fresh goat milk to the nearby milk cooperative in addition to the sale of eggs. This additional income, has allowed her to provide her children with new school shoes and stationery much to her delight.
